David Raitt

Dr David Raitt has worked for the European Space Agency since 1969 in France, Italy and The Netherlands. His activities have included marketing the Agency's online information retrieval system; managing the Library and Information Services at ESTEC, ESA's large R&D establishment; providing a technology watch and multimedia information and training support to European astronauts; carrying out strategic analyses of space activities over the long term; and directing studies and programmes relating to space technology R&D harmonization, university-industry cooperation, and diversification of the space industry, in addition to coordinating the training programmes for graduate trainees. Currently, Dr Raitt is working as Senior Technology Transfer Officer in ESA's Technology Transfer Programme where his activities involve identifying and researching new breakthrough technological opportunities to ascertain their subsequent spin-off/spin-in possibilities in new markets; facilitating and fostering synergies and contacts between potential users of space technologies; making the general public more aware of space technologies and concepts and the benefits that can result from technology spin-off; and conducting and managing studies on advanced space technology concepts to ascertain their technology transfer and promotion potential in the most important socio-economic sectors.
